What is a microschool?

A microschool is small learning environment. It is the reinvention of the one-room schoolhouse. Microschools have class sizes that are much smaller than traditional schools with mixed-aged grouping. About our School

AMAzing Youth Learning Academy is an independent Microschool based in Tampa, Florida. We provide a non-traditional learning environment focusing on developing our scholars' abilities and interests to prepare them for the real world. We provide a hands-on, individualized curriculum that allows our scholars to thrive and reach their full potential. With a small teacher-to-scholar ratio, your child will benefit from a tailored approach to education that ensures they receive the attention and support they need to succeed.

Our Philosophy

We believe our scholars are leaders in their learning. We provide an environment where scholars can learn in their own unique way and at their own pace. Our approach is to affirm students in their abilities through love, patience, and persistence to create an environment where scholars feel comfortable and confident in their ability to learn.

Tuesdays - Thursdays 7:00am - 3:30pm

7:00 am - 7:45 am

Drop Off/Morning Recess/Tutoring

Scholars are dropped off between 7:00 am and 7:45 am. During this time they will have morning recess and receive tutoring as needed.

7:45 am - 7:55 am

Daily Goals and Affirmations

Scholars will recite their daily affirmations. They will also list their daily goals and complete their daily journal log.

7:55 am - 8:15 am

Connection Mode

During connection mode, the entire school will use this time to discuss the question of the week. Scholars will also participate in connection activities such as quick stem challenges, rocket math challenges, group poem recitals, or group songs and dance.

8:15 am - 10:45 am

Conquer Block

During the conquer block, scholars will work one-on-one with a teacher in reading, writing, grammar, and math. They will reinforce their learning by completing lessons in the learning style(s) of their choice.

10:45 am - 11:15 am

Collaboration Block A

Scholars will gain a deeper understanding of social studies and science as they work with a partner on experiments and projects.

11:15 am - 11:50 am

Lunch

Scholars engage in friendly conversation as they eat lunch.

11:50 am - 12:50 pm

Collaboration Block B

In groups, scholars use an inquiry-based and learner-centered approach to answer the question of the week. Scholars are immersed in real-world scenarios that foster deep learning and critical thinking skills.

12:50 pm - 1:20 pm

Foreign Language

Scholars will have two language courses. Spanish is a mandatory course. Scholars may select a second language course of their choice such as ASL, French, Mandarin, Swahili, etc.

1:20 pm - 1:50 pm

Power Mode

Scholars will receive education in health, financial literacy & entrepreneurship, African/African American history, and life skills such as gardening, cooking, sewing, etiquette, social emotional learning, and more.

1:50 pm - 2:20 pm

Create Mode

Scholars will enhance their creative thinking skills as they participate in electives based on their interests.

2:20 pm - 2:30 pm

EOD Discussion/ Exit Ticket

Scholars will reflect on lessons learned during the day through discussion and completion of an exit ticket.

2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Pickup/Afternoon Recess/Tutoring

Parents may pick up scholars anytime between 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm. During this time scholars may have afternoon recess or receive tutoring.
